Rachel Malik

Rachel Malik | Investment Counsellor | Citi

Rachel Malik

In 2018 I joined Citi Private Bank's graduate program, where I did four six-month rotations around the business.

After completing the program I found a permanent role in the UK Investment Counsellor team. Within 5 months I began taking on my own book of clients and after just over 1 year I began to cover a second region, Israel. In my role, I advise across all asset classes in both public and private markets. Within two and a half years I have worked my way up from Analyst to Vice President .

Prior to joining Citi I attended the University of Birmingham for my undergraduate degree. As an undergraduate I was the recipient of four international scholarships, which enabled me to study in Singapore and China, as well as attend a Social Entrepreneurship and Social Change programme in India and present my independent research on Refugee Movement in times of Crisis, at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. After completing my undergraduate degree I received another scholarship to study a Masters in World Economics and Chinese Studies at Beijing University in China.

My first introduction to banking was at 17, when I was selected to participate in the Social Mobility Foundation's Aspiring Professional Programme that was ran in partnership with J.P. Morgan. To this day I am extremely grateful for this opportunity as it opened so many doors for me.

I am the Resourcing Manager for Simmons Adaptive, the flexible resourcing platform for Simmons & Simmons.

In this position I lead the recruitment function for the UK, focusing on the identification, management, and placement of consultant lawyers into interim assignments, both at Simmons and with clients of the Firm.

My legal recruitment career first began in 2015, where following graduation from University, I joined a boutique legal recruitment agency focusing on paralegal and document review recruitment for city practices. Alessandra Wood

Alessandra Wood | Senior Web Data Analyst | DirectLine Group

Alessandra Wood

I'm Italian and migrated to the UK when i was 18 with only £150 in my pocket and a one way ticket.

I've built myself up from nothing. After a few years gaining working experience and confidence with my English, I started working at eFinancialCareers as a Marketeer in the Recruitment, Banking and Finance sector. After a few years, I fell in love with Web Analytics and quickly succeeded in many projects, including migrating from Adobe Analytics to Google Analytics and leading a team of 4 across Sales, Marketing and Product Development and really transforming the company to a data driven organisation. After having my 2 beautiful children I decided to leave and found a job at DirectLine in September 2016 as an Senior Digital Analyst in the Marketing Effectiveness team. There, I've looked after Motor, Home, Rescue across both Direct and PCW channels, mainly serving the Marketing floor for digital effectiveness but also during econometrics led tests and studies. After a few years, I have moved to the Digital Department and started working for the PCW hub as an analyst in a Agile space which i have really enjoyed. I am now a Senior Data Analyst for the Pet, Travel and Private products and i am also volunteering as an Agile Advocates for the entire Data, Pet, Travel and Private communities, to help our teams adopt Agile behaviours to achieve effectiveness and efficiency, raising the whole departments as a result. I love my job.

Bethany Woolley | Insurance Broker | Marsh

Bethany Woolley

I thought I would use 3 words people sum me up by, positive, loyal and friendly.

If you know of me, I am seldom down and pride myself on positive attitude and a smile; I am friendly and approachable so people feel at ease and know I am willing to help them, which is commended. Loyal, once I have faith and trust in someone or something I am committed to it – like progressing in the same organisation, despite the norm in our industry to move around regularly. I think these traits are key to finding my feet and establishing myself as a women in insurance. So where did it start? Straight from graduating University with a first class Business degree, I returned to my previous employment at Boots in a consulting role. However, within a few months, I wanted a challenge and I applied for a broker role at Marsh. I have been in Marsh Finpro Management Liability practice since 2016 and have experienced working in Norwich and London – both great exposure. My role goes between insuring the client gets the best T&C's by maintaining relationships with underwriters and then presenting and building a rapport with the client to provide updates (good or bad). I have been promoted twice in my career, now VP; I have actively taken up development opportunities whilst still providing assistance to grow the team and help new colleagues conduct the role - when I started the team was 4 individuals, now it is 17.
