Sharona Attar
I was called to the Bar in 1997 having completed the LLB, LLM and the Bar Vocational Course. I completed a six month Chancery pupillage in chambers at 10 Old Square and a further six months pupillage in commerce. I was then employed by Hammond Suddards Solicitors as a non-practising barrister and was sent on a year secondment as assistant to the Chief Executive of the Financial Law Panel, which was set up by the Bank of England to look into legal issues affecting the financial markets and chaired by Lord Donaldson, former Master of the Rolls. I joined the Financial Services department of Clifford Chance in 2000 and whilst there spent time on secondment to Credit Suisse and UBS. Having had my first two children I spent a year teaching the Business Law module of the Legal Practice Course at BPP School of Law before joining The London Clearing House where I spent five years spanning the financial crisis of 2008 and its aftermath and held the role of Director. Following the birth of my third child I undertook a consultancy role with RBS before joining Bloomberg in June 2016 where I am now Counsel for a financial index business recently acquired by Bloomberg.
