I started my career initially as Service Coordinator from Yellow Line Engineering Service Pvt Ltd base in Surat from 21st August 2012 to 22nd September 2013 and then got opportunity to work in Retail as a Customer Service Assistant in Marks and Spencer Reliance India Pvt Ltd based in Virtuous Mall Surat from 23rd September 2013 and still continuing.In Marks and Spencer,I learn more about Customer service, standard of appearance and I get expert in that then I have started learning my seniors work, which help me to improve my skill level and by delivering the best service and taking extra initiatives I have completely improve my working style and performance.
My seniors appreciated me many times just because of my dedication and positive attitude towards my work.I still keep on learning the new things in my store from my seniors
because I want be perfect leader, a genuine employee, and a friendly colleague in future.

Tanya Thourani | Barclays

An extremely confident young lady in the early twenties, I have always carried my skills of responsibilities and initiative right from college days where I was the Placement head and Computer branch representative. I also had the good fortune of holding a distinction degree in Computer Science from Cummins College of Engineering for women.
Deeply driven by the belief that technology makes our lives easier and that it can empower everyday people and every aspect of any business, I undertook a successful research project in computational offloading with CDAC in association with IIT-Bombay.
I was selected for the renowned Barclays Rotational Program that has made me garner intercultural working experience in Compliance, Investment Banking and Data & Integration Services by working in different domains and with multifaceted people. Always keen on leading various initiatives, many of my various functional deliveries have been recognized to enhance customer experience. I have recently been selected to be a part of some new project management opportunities.
With an unusual mix of traits that combine idealism and action, I strongly desire to become a catalyst in contributing to activities that create an impact.
Within just two years in the industry I have proactively started umpteen initiatives – driving the pilot ‘Reverse Mentoring’ culture for directors and colleagues early in their career, ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion Network for Barclays IMGame and Queen's Olympiad, winning gold medal in Swimming, Athletics and Badminton, hosting and performing various plays for the Embrace Cultural network – to name a few.
What empowers me with a sense of definitive purpose for all my undertakings is getting nominated for Global Recognition Program under the category of ‘Entry Level Talent’. I am a corporate Toastmaster trophy winner and a certified dancer in contemporary, hip-hop and Bollywood.

Shriya Rihal | Aon

Shriya joined AON in July 2013, as a Jr. Analyst and soon progressed to being Sr. Analyst in a short span of time. Her success can easily be seen in the exceptional performance ratings that she has been getting in the last few years. She is now one of the Certified Knowledge Wizard with advanced knowledge of Aon tools.
Shriya has been working for US and Canada Markets and has spearheaded two technology transitions in her short tenure with Aon’s key global stake holders and product owners successfully. Shriya has collaborated with the partners at AON in developing several new offers and has trained Canadian team with Aon’s proprietary technology and product.
Shriya is been taking lead and being inventive in developing new processes and procedures with Aon’s updated reporting platform and is the subject matter expert on multiple products and is also responsible for training across the globe.
She is the founder of ‘GATE-o-Pedia’ (now renamed as ‘Bits and Bytes’) which is a weekly digest to spread knowledge within operation, markets and stakeholders globally.
Shriya has, successfully transitioned –‘Rapid Engagement Survey Reporting’ to Operations teams, and generated more than 100 benchmarks in a span of 2 to 4 months by leveraging SPSS tool to merge data for 500-600 organizations.

I have over twelve years of experience in the field of Learning and Development, spanning across ITeS, BFSI, Telecom and Travel industries. I have an MBA from SIBM, Pune. I am currently a writer and also the founder of Roots & Wings Programme - a skill and personality enhancement programme for children. Sushma is a highly skilled technical architect, with 19 years of experience in enterprise software product development in the Security and capital markets domains. She has a strong understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of developing complex systems and developing teams that deliver real value.
Sushma has worked in a number of roles from developer through Principal Engineer and manager roles and to Chief architect for a product based startup and an enterprise program.
She leverages her entrepreneurial skills from her startup experience within the organization, rapidly building effective teams and using her networks both within and outside the region to support them, as well as seeking innovative uses of technology to solve the real business problems that required of her role.
Sushma is passionate about technology and people, leading diverse extra curricular initiatives from pulling all night sessions at Blockchain hackathons to leading the Diversity hiring workstream in IT India.

Rising Star Awards 2017 | In Words
WeAreTheCity celebrated the winners of the 2017 Rising Star Awards, at a prestigious ceremony at NewsUK, London.
Over 200 winners, sponsors, judges and guest attended and enjoyed a champagne reception and welcome by Vanessa Vallely, Managing Director, WeAreTheCity; and Chris Duncan, Managing Director, Times Newspaper Ltd.
During the interval of the awards presentation, the audience were treated to surprise entertainment from the gospel choir, Uplifted Voices. The choir delivered a moving performance and received a standing ovation from the audience during their rendition of ‘Proud Mary’.
Closing the awards, Vallely implored the audience to network with each other, make new connections and to enjoy the moment.
The Rising Star awards were introduced to showcase the UK pipeline of female talent below management level and to create 100 female role models across 20 different industries and professions as well as celebrating the hard work and support of our Rising Star Champions and Company of the Year.
The winners were narrowed down from over 1,250 nominations and were judged by a panel of 33 independent judges. Over 35,000 public votes were received for the 200 shortlisted nominees from around the world.

WeAreTheCity are proud to announce the winners of their 2017 Rising Star awards.
Now in its third year, the Rising Star awardsRisin were introduced to showcase the UK pipeline of female talent below management and to create female 100 role models across 20 different industries and professions.
Alongside the Rising Star categories and Rising Star Champion award, we are also pleased to announce the winners of the new Company of the Year award for 2017. This award recognises the achievements of a company who can clearly demonstrate that they are actively supporting its female talent pipeline through their initiatives, training, development programmes and internal employee relations and diversity network groups.
The awards were entered by 1,250 individuals were judged by a panel of 33 independent judges. Over 35,000 public votes were received for the 200 shortlisted nominees. The awards were kindly sponsored by The Times & The Sunday Times and supported by 3M, Aon, Barclays, Bloomberg, Cancer Research UK, Citi, Edit Development, EY, GDS, Kier, LinkedIn, Lloyd’s, Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust, Oliver Wyman, PedalSure, Reed Smith, Royal Navy, Societe Generale, Streets Consulting and Worldpay.

Rising Stars Shortlist Celebration 2017 | In words
WeAreTheCity hosted an evening of celebration for over 200 women who were shortlisted for the 2017 Rising Star Awards.
Held at Bloomberg, London, the event brought together those shortlisted across 22 categories, judges, previous winners and speakers including founder and director of Streets Consulting, Julie Streets and CEO of Company Shortcuts, Serial Entrepreneur and Investor, Lara Morgan.
Pamela Hutchinson, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Bloomberg welcomed the guests and said, “We are thrilled to be hosting the Rising Star shortlist event for the third year running.”
“We were there at the beginning and we will continue to be with you.”
“As you rise remember to bring someone with you, because in numbers there is strength.”
Opening the night, Streets got the audience laughing with her comedic stories but also spoke of the need for more women.
She said, “There is an appetite for change but it comes down to those that sit on boards.”
“It’s about leaving the organisation better than when you began.”
She reminded the shortlist that they could become those leaders, saying, “You’re all here because people nominated you – they saw something in you.”
“It’s all about taking the initiative. It’s all about you.”
Picking up from Street’s inspiring message, Lara Morgan gave her advice on rising to the top.
She said, “If a buffoon like this can be this lucky, then maybe you can make your own luck to.”
“You have in your hands whatever you want to do in life.”
“The world is a very small place and it truly is your oyster.”
“Have you got a plan? Not just for your career, but for your life, your health, your wellbeing, spirituality.”
“Share your knowledge. Take someone with you – in fact take a sodding army with you.”
“Work hard on yourself, then work hard for someone else.”
“I want you to have loads of energy. Become so passionate that you become infectious.”
“Pick wisely those that you surround yourselves with.”
“Blag it like the boys.”
“Life is short but there is an awful lot to get out of it.”
“Think very hard about where you want to go and what you want to do and just start doing radical, cool stuff.”
Taking to the stage, Vanessa Vallely, Managing Director of WeAreTheCity said,
“It’s absolutely wonderful to be back at Bloomberg.”
“We have been long talking about women on boards and don’t get me wrong, we need them – but if we don’t invest in you guys then we are never going to solve this problem.”
“My call to action for you is to be visible."
“You are as much a part of our family as everyone else.”
A panellist of last year’s winners, including Hannah Cotton, Cheryl-Anne Sanderson, Lorraine Eyers, Claudine Adeyemi, Manisha Taylor, Lauren Garey and Elisha St Hilaire, were interviewed by Julia Streets and they spoke of winning the award, career advice and what had happened since.
When asked how the award had helped them, Eyers said, “The awards were the best thing that ever happened to me.”
“I came back with some fresh views and new opinions.”
Sanderson continued saying, “The awards give you the confidence to go out there.”
Cotton also spoke of the confidence that the awards had given her. She said, “When I won I had no idea of the scale and force that these awards have.”
“It wasn’t until I started attending Careers Club events that I realised I am a powerful human being.”
Moving on to career tips, Garey advised, “Really push yourselves to do something you’re not necessarily very good at.”
Cotton said, “No doors will open for you, you have to make it happen.”
“You’ve got 200 opportunities here tonight. As Vanessa said we are all a family.”
Inspired by the speakers, the audience were encouraged to network and make new connections.
Now in its third year, the Rising Star Awards are the first to focus on the UK’s female talent pipeline below management level. Through these awards, WeAreTheCity will celebrate 100 individual female contributors that represent the leaders and role models of tomorrow. The Rising Star Champions category also recognises the efforts of senior leaders, male and female, who are actively supporting the female pipeline outside of their corporate responsibilities.
This year, WeAreTheCity are also pleased to announce a new category to our awards, Company of the Year, which recognises the achievements of a company who can clearly demonstrate that they are actively supporting and developing their female talent pipeline through their initiatives, training, development programmes and/or internal employee relations groups.
