Vinita joined Barclays in October 2012 and is the Head of Conduct Risk at Barclays Wealth working with stakeholders globally to ensure the effective management of conduct in the business. Conduct risk focuses on the risk of detriment to customers; either financial or non-financial; and is based on one fundamental principal - it is essential that our clients trust us to put their interests first and do what's right for them.

Prior to joining Barclays, Vinita was a Senior Project Manager at BSkyB, driving strategic change, the most recent one being the creation and delivery of Sky's WiFi proposition through the acquisition of ‘The Cloud'.

Prior to Sky, Vinita was with WNS, India's Leading outsourcing company supporting strategic off-shoring through the transition of significant business processes in the energy sector.

Vinita has also been a senior leadership trainer and has designed and delivered sessions such as Coaching and Emotional Intelligence. Vinita started her career in the hotel industry with The Oberoi Group of Hotels in India.

Vinita is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PRINCE 2 Practitioner and an accredited trainer. She graduated in Commerce from the Delhi University and has over 15 years of experience spanning across conduct risk, client experience, learning and development, design and delivery of strategic change and continuous improvement (Kaizen). She is passionate about doing what is right and keeping things simple.

In her spare time she likes to blog (wearethecity.in/blogs/vinitaramtri) and is now working on a book.

She is an active participant at city events related to her field, the most recent one being OpRisk Europe 2015 where she was a speaker. She will also be speaking at the Big Data Conference in July 2015.

Gemma Stanbridge | Westminster Wealth Management

After graduating in Economics at the University of Exeter, Gemma worked for a small NGO in Cameroon ‘an incredible experience, rewarding and very character building!’ On her return she focused on becoming a financial adviser ‘I have always had a thirst for learning more about finance and economics, having a career in finance was a definitive choice. Having said this I have never been motivated by money and was looking for a career where I could help people and there finance. Becoming a financial adviser was a pretty clear cut decision!’

She started her career in a small IFA practice, growing her own client base and gaining CII qualifications. Today she works for one of the largest chartered IFA firms in London; Westminster Wealth Management, heading up the Estate and Inheritance tax department. She has gained Chartered status and is a Fellow of the PFS – the highest qualification a financial adviser can hold. She has gained qualifications with the Society of Trust and Estate practitioners and now specialises in advising clients in the later years, focusing on income requirements and mitigating Inheritance tax.

She prides herself on looking after her clients for the long term, developing fostered client relationships for years to come. The key to her success is ‘delivering expert advice at a fair price and putting clients at the forefront of her proposition.’ She volunteers at Westminster Citizens Advice, helping people who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Out of the work place Gemma enjoys many a sporting challenge including 100 mile cycle and a couple of half an iron mans, fundraising for a charity close to her heart the Gurkha Welfare trust. Next year she has her sights on doing an ironman 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon to finish!


Ashley Smith - British Gas Venture Capital

Ashley Smith | British Gas Venture Capital

Ashley has spent more than a decade in technology, most recently co-founding and running British Gas Venture Capital (BGVC).

At BGVC, Ashley focuses on investing in start-ups active in areas of future growth for British Gas, particularly along the technology themes of internet-of-things, data analytics, and energy efficiency. She sets BGVC's strategy, and oversees all aspects of the investment process, from origination and transaction execution to portfolio management and exit. She has had numerous board roles with her investments and most recently exited leading internet-of-things provider AlertMe.com for $100m earlier this year.

Prior to co-founding BGVC, Ashley invested in technology companies ranging from gas turbine efficiency to solar to power electronics at CT Investment Partners. Earlier in her career, Ashley worked for Franklin Templeton Investments and the Environmental Protection Agency. She has an MBA from Wharton Business School, and a BSc from McGill University.

Ashley informally mentors investing and technology professionals in career development, informally advises new start-ups, and is regularly invited to speak at events. Outside of work, Ashley spends as much time as possible outdoors, and loves cycling and hiking.


Sarah Brakebill - BNY Mellon

Sarah Brakebill is a Sales Manager in the Global Financial Institutions group at BNY Mellon Investment Management and is responsible for managing sales relationships and distributing funds to complex, cross-border organisations, wealth managers and family offices. BNY Mellon is one of the world’s 10 largest investment managers. Sarah joined the firm in 2010 as an intern in Corporate Trust before moving into a Business Development role in Global Client Management, which focused on growing business with strategic clients across the breadth of the company’s product and service offering.

Sarah is in her second year sitting on the Board of City Women Network as Secretary, contributing to enhancing the Board’s governance and effectiveness. She is an active volunteer with the Junior League of London, an organisation committed to promoting voluntary service, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. She has served on a number of different committees in the organisation with the common goal of alleviating poverty in London. Prior to moving to London, Sarah volunteered during her gap year teaching HIV/AIDS classes in a village in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and teaching English in Rayong and Chumphon, Thailand.

She earned an MSc Management degree with Distinction from Cass Business School, City University London and a BSc Psychology degree from Northeastern University in Boston.


Stephanie Niven - Tesco Pension Investment

Stephanie joined TPI in December 2012 as an Equity Portfolio Manager on the global equity team with responsibility for stock selection in the materials, energy and healthcare sectors. Together with her team she has established a robust and effective investment process, driving top quintile performance of the fund over the past two and a half years, with direct oversight of £3.4bn of assets and indirect responsibility over a further £3bn.

Stephanie was previously at hedge fund boutique Javelin Capital LLP, where she was a Partner and Portfolio Manager with responsibility for the fundamental investment strategy of the portfolio. She joined Javelin Capital with former colleagues of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she worked for five years on the Global Active Equity team.

Stephanie graduated from Merton College, Oxford University with a Double First in History, coming in the top ten of her year. Stephanie is a CFA charterholder, receiving the designation in 2010.

Outside of work, Stephanie is a keen athlete, having been selected to represent Great Britain at the ITU World Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Belfort, France. She has also completed four ironman triathlons, most recently achieving a podium position in Langkawi, Malaysia in September 2014.
