Doreena Mascarenhas | Barclays

I am a mother, banker and entrepreneur with 16 years of global experience. Back in 2003, I challenged myself to test my abilities, and with very limited resources relocated to US. Without any support system, I started my career with Chase Bank as a Customer Service Rep. With a blend of determination, hard work and good fortune, I climbed the corporate ladder from an entry-level Rep to a Director of Bank Operations. From being scared to stand up for myself, to starting my own small business, it was a long journey of learning the powers within, which just needed to be tested and trusted upon. It took me about ten years to learn the value of time, people, relationships and roots back home. It almost feels like a movie, when the smell of Dal/rice and fry fish was far better than the world’s most expensive perfumes. The calling was too powerful, and I moved back home to India in 2014, and was fortunate to quickly find a job with Barclays. Fortunate not only because of the continuity of my career, but also the opportunity to continue the work I began in the US working on empowering women, by joining hands with WIN (Working Women Network) at Barclays.

Doorva Solanki | Barclays

I am working as a developer in Barclays Technology Center India for a year. I have worked in different domains, which has exposed me to different working cultures. I am a firm believer of diversity as it improves the customs of the team, provides a broader scope and gives a sense of empowerment to everyone. I was the first female development lead in my previous organization, which held a reputation of all male development lead roles. It challenges me to do those things which are forbidden for girls no matter those are related to intellectual level or physical strength.   I think it’s only us who put a barrier on our goals and no one else, thus we should always strive at achieving whatever our heart wants. I want to live life at the fullest and have tried my hands at different areas like Astanga Yoga, photography, painting and learning different dance forms like hip hop, salsa, Bollywood and contemporary. During my engineering, I taught underprivileged girls and it was a true joy to see them getting through the exams. I was an active member of voluntary council in my previous organization, where we taught IT to underprivileged kids of Sumati Balwan.

Divyaa Doraiswamy

Divyaa Doraiswamy | Gurukulam – The Shloka School

I have a Master’s in Economics and am a Shlokapreneur. I am a theist in every right and am an extremely confident young lady in my 30s, living in one of the most beautiful cities of India – Bangalore. I love the temples I visit and absolutely long for the annadanams I partake in every Thursday. My frequent visits to an old age home helping elderly parents who have been left to the mercy of the Lord to get free medical treatment and medicines is the best thing I’ve ever been a part of.

And yes, my Shloka school, Gurukulam, isn’t a dream any longer.

I am a true-blue Bangalorean, an absolute optimist these days and love to be surrounded by people. I am also a big foodie, a crazy shopaholic (I love my comfortable shoes), an avid blogger and I love to laugh a laughter that is completely infectious.

I love teaching my little children and doing lots of research to help them be their best. My regular swim sessions keep me completely sane!
