Lauren Dobson

Lauren Dobson | Hexham Racecourse

 Marketing Manager | Hexham Racecourse

I was educated in Ashington, Northumberland and in 2008, I started work in the North East retail industry. However, I have always held a passion for horse racing, therefore volunteering on race days at Hexham since the age of 12 to gain experience.

After three years in retail, I secured the role of Marketing Executive at Hexham Racecourse in 2011. Since then I have worked on creating a new customer management and ticket system which has improved the customer experience and saved the company money. In 2013 I won a young employee of the year Hexham business award after being nominated by the company’s Chief Executive.

I have recently undertaken a Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) course and been promoted to Marketing Manager. I would love to further progress my career to a senior position at Hexham Racecourse and in the Racing Industry.

I am delighted to receive this nomination.

I am an enthusiastic, highly dedicated and ambitious individual. I enjoy developing my skills within a fast paced environment and I am familiar with business development practice and the importance of maintaining a loyal customer base in order to hit KPI’s and increase annual profit across all income lines on an annual basis.

I enjoy meeting new people and have had great pleasure in building a network of clients and creating personalised and bespoke packages to meet the requirements of each individual. I am well versed in event management, proposals, negotiation, account handling, administration, hospitality, sponsorship sales and most recently marketing. I am quick to grasp new ideas and concepts and I am keen to develop problem solving strategies. Outside of work, I enjoy running, dancing and time with friends.

Gemmer Crozier

Gemmer Crozier | Brother UK

Administration Assistant Executive Office | Brother UK Ltd

I am a highly committed and enthusiastic 19 year old who is very hungry to learn.

My chosen route as an apprentice via The Apprentice Academy lead me to Brother UK where I started my Level 3 Apprenticeship. I quickly received a permanent contract, working a split role between the Executive office and Community Engagement Manager.

I coordinate internal and external communications, support local businesses on their key CSR projects and coordinate a large charity fund to local charitable groups.

I am a passionate Apprenticeship ambassador, engaging with schools and colleges locally, providing independent talks on my apprenticeship journey, one to one mentoring and supporting skills gap training. In 6 months I have reached out to over 800 students.

I sit on the Pride of Tameside Business Awards committee managing ticket revenue, enabling me to regularly network with over 100 local businesses, plus I attend many charity and PA networks.

Amanda Barlow

Amanda Hargreaves | PZ Cussons

EA to the ExCo | PZ Cussons International

Amanda is Executive Assistant to the Executive Committee of PZ Cussons International and has primary responsibility for the CEO, CFO and HR Director.

Amanda is incredibly proud of the fact that she is a co-founder of the Manchester PA Network (“MPAN”) www.manchesterpanetwork.co.uk. MPAN is a not-for-profit organisation founded in July 2011.  MPAN was borne out of the founders' frustrations of there being no meaningful or beneficial network for PAs in the Manchester area and it has since grown organically to over 600 members.

Samantha Brooker

Samantha Brooker | Secret Escapes

Head of Media, UK | Secret Escapes

I have recently joined Secret Escapes as Head of Media, UK  after being approached for this role by a previous employer. I am heading in to progress their creative solutions offering and help to grow what is currently a relatively media small team for such an expanding proposition.

I've kindly been nominated for securing the investment needed to steer the Factory Media business model from a print-loss digital company to a digital and broadcast business – opening a new revenue stream which has transformed our place in the market and paved the way for (fingers crossed) industry awards.

In truth I chose a career in client services purely because it was what my mum did. She ran her business from home and I grew up listening to her build rapport with clients on the phone. She always seemed to be laughing or having warm conversations with people so I never imagined myself doing anything less than this, and was lucky enough to find it in media.

Outside of work I love to exercise and travel, ideally both at the same time. I’m also a mentor within the Careers Academy where being a sounding board for my 17 year old mentee actually gives me a lot of perspective; remembering how hard it is to be 17 makes 29 feel a like breeze!

Karen Glenn

Karen Glenn | Colt Technology Services

Executive Assistant | Colt Technology Services

I am an award winning PA with over eight years’ experience, extremely passionate and ambitious, who champions the role as a truly fantastic career choice. It is a career that I enjoy and have turned it into an opportunity to be among the best in my field.  An efficient and career-focused PA who believes passionately about providing the highest level of support to the Executive which assists in underpinning their strategic objectives and someone who consistently works to the highest professional standards with superb communication skills and the ability to build solid relationships. I have been described by my Executive Team as the rock, the go to person in the team, always in tune with the feelings of others and knowing when to offer extra support or advice. A PA who enjoys networking with peers with the aim of sharing knowledge and supporting others starting on their career journey along with becoming a fellow member of EPAA this year.  I  have also recently started public speaking, with the first attempt being at a PA training day, it is important to always challenge yourself and look for areas of development to grow.

More recently I am proud to be the co-founder of a new network for Essex office support staff called “NESS”.  It is aimed not only at PA/EAs but office administrators, office managers, receptions, office juniors to bring the support staff together to connect, share & develop.  NESS has its launch event on the evening of 10th May.

Jennifer Corcoran

Jennifer Corcoran | Credit Agricole CIB

Office Manager / PA | Crédit Agricole CIB

Welcome to my bio.  Tooting your own horn can feel a bit awkward but when it comes to championing the PA/EA profession or being an advocate for fairness and equality I’m more than happy to wax lyrical.

For me the pen is mightier than the sword and in 2014 I set up my own PA related blog.  I have also guest blogged on subjects such as networking, speaking up, creating an internal PA forum, the importance of a professional headshot and getting an up to date job description.  I have pushed through my comfort zone and spoken at conferences as to how social media can empower Assistants.

On the voluntary side I am the National PRO for EUMA UK which is a not-for-profit Association for Management Assistants across 25 countries.  I am also a proud founding member of WEP and belong to the SPRING women’s network at CACIB.

Rachel Webster

Rachel Webster | Barclays

 Business Manager | Barclays

In 1985 I left school with limited qualifications and choose at the time a slightly different career path - against all odds in the mid 80's I was accepted on a welding apprenticeship.

After 4 years as a 'welder' I felt I needed a new challenge and decided to join the army.  I never thought when I walked through the Army Careers Office in 1989 that I would complete 24 years service and not only that but work my way up through the ranks from Private soldier to a commissioned officer, leaving as a Captain. I spent over 11 years deployed on operations; serving in NI, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2013 it was time to hang up the combat boots and become a civilian - I started working in Barclays, initially supporting the military programme and more recently as a Business Manager.

I am single, no children but own a wonderful westie called Hamish - who is now in retirement and lives with my parents in Brigg, North Lincolnshire.
